Library RRGI

The RRGI Library has a total collection of around 38,418 Volumes with approximately 3,992 Titles. It also subscribes to 39 national and international journals, maintains around 170 bound journals volumes and provides access to more than 300 online journals. As appropriate for one of the best colleges in Lucknow ranking among UPTU’s Top Colleges, the library has a DELNET membership which covers online libraries of the world more than 2100 libraries including 28 foreign libraries facilitating 24/7 online access.

Libraries are the backbone of any civilized society and heart of any academic Institution. Libraries therefore should be well equipped with books, journals and magazines. The library at RRIMT has ample number of books, with national and international journals and magazines, encoded with computerized system. It has very large and calm reading room for the students.

Library is the mirror of every institution and it reflects how serious an institute is towards the education of their students. R.R. Institute of Modern Technology, Lucknow started in 2008. Great care has been taken to see that the library should be one of the finest libraries of technology and management in Lucknow.

It is growing steady in the means of its resources, facilities and services. The library of RRIMT, Lucknow is air-conditioned, modern and digital having in-house developed Library Management Software. It has collection of almost all the types of documents available in various Medias, in the field of Technology and Management

Collection

The library of RRIMT, Lucknow at present has total collection of around 38,418 books with approx. 3,992 numbers of titles. Apart from this, there is also a significant collection of 39 national and international journals, maintains around 170 bound journals volumes and provides access to more than 300 online journals. Magazines and non-print materials include 772 CDs, etc. Books are basically organized by the Dewey Decimal Classification (DDC) scheme, and cataloguing is based on AACR II, we have also membership of DELNET which covers online libraries of the world more than 2100 libraries including 22 foreign libraries facilitating 24/7 online access.

Library Services

Circulation System The issue/return of books to students and faculty members is done through Library Management software.
Computerized Searching of Documents Users have the facility to search the document through author, title, and subject, etc.
Reference Services Reference Services such as C.A.S and S.D.I are provided in a very effective way to satisfy >the users need.
Reprography Services Reprography service is provided with nominal charges.
Book Bank Scheme In book bank scheme a text book per subject is issued to the students for the period of whole semester.

Library Rule & Regulation

MEMBERSHIP ELIGIBILITY

  1. Library facility is for the students, faculty, staff and visiting faculty of institute.
  2. The Director may allow others to become the library members by paying a caution money of Rs. 8000/- & annual subscription fee of Rs. 1000/- The caution money will be refunded on termination of membership.

CIRCULATION RULES

  1. Borrowing facilities is only for the member of the RRIMT Library against Bar Coded Identity Card cum Library Card issued to them after submitted the library membership form at the library counter. Books are issued from the Counter on presenting the Bar Coded Identity Card. The Library cum Identity card is Non-Transferable. In case of misuse of Identity card students will be fined Rs. 200/-.
  2. All student members shall produce their Library cum Identity card on the counter at the time of issue and return of the books.
  3. New editions can only be issued after technical processing has been completed.
  4. If only a single copy of any document is available in the library then it will not be issued, the same can only be consulted in the library. However as special case, the permission of Director Sir/Dean (A) is required for issue of the book.
  5. Books are issue into two modes (i) Book Bank (BB) for one semester (ii) 2 Books (BL) for 10 Days.
  6. Renewal is not automatic. For renewal, it is necessary that the book shall be presented at the counter. If there is a pending demand for the book, the request for renewal may be turned down.
  7. The list of new arrivals will be displayed on the notice board and kept on display shelf for a week. Thereafter the new arrivals will be available for issue if not meant for Reference.
  8. If a book is not returned within the stipulated time as per RRIMT Library rules, the students will be charged a fine of Rs. 5/- per day per book. In case of overnight issue on special circumstances, the fine will be of Rs. 10/- per day per book.
  9. The defaulters will not be issued books in future.
  10. In the case of loss of book the borrower will have to replace the book along with fine as admissible. If he/she does not replace the book then he/she will have to pay current cost of the book.
  11. RRIMT Library members are responsible for the Identity card issued to them. Loss ID card should be reported to the Librarian immediately. Duplicate ID card will be issued on payment of Rs. 100/-.
  12. Librarian can recall books and publications any time to meet any urgent requirement.

GENERAL RULES

    1. All Library users must sign in/out register available with the attendant at the entrance.
    2. Members are expected to maintain silence and should not disturb others. Smoking/Eating /Talking /Chewing are strictly prohibited in the library.
    3. Personal belongings are not allowed in the library. However, they may carry loose papers and a note book.
    4. RRIMT Library follows an Open-Access System. Books and other material taken from the library stacks should be left by readers, on the table for the library staff to arrange the books.
    5. Users of the RRIMT Library should not deface, mark, cut, mutilate or damage the reading material in any way. Person doing so will be fined heavily, apart from being asked to pay the cost of the damage document. In case a person repeats the offence for the second times, his/her Membership will be terminated.
    6. The members are expected to maintain the decorum of the library, any violation to be brought to the notice of the Director / Dean (Academic).
    7. The members are to verify the books before leaving the issue counter. After the book is issued the member will be responsible for any damage etc.
    8. If any student found indulging in the process of book hiding, stealing, or mutilating, he/she will be fined as under after approval by Director Sir/Dean (Academic).
      1. Book Hiding: Minimum fine Rs. 200/- and suspension of library membership for a period of one month. On re-occurrence of the act, minimum fine of Rs. 400/- and termination of library membership.
      2. Book Damaging: Minimum fine Rs. 400/- and suspension of library membership for a period of one month. On re-occurrence of the act, minimum fine of Rs. 1000/- and termination of library membership.
      3. Book Stealing: Minimum fine Rs. 1000/- and actual cost of the book, and suspension of library membership for a minimum period of one semester. On reoccurrence of the act minimum fine will be Rs. 5000/- and disciplinary action as deemed it.
      4. Misbehaviour with RRIMT Staff: Minimum fine will be Rs. 500/- on reoccurrence of the act, minimum fine will be Rs. 1000/- plus termination of library membership.
    9. No Dues Certificate will be given only after clearing the all dues.

Library Software:

  • It is fully automated with integrated open source software KOHA and utilizes information of Books and other resources to ensure that resources are easily accessible.

OPAC (Online Public Access Catalogue): The library has fully computerized its most actively used collection, which is searchable through OPAC, the computer catalogue. OPAC is extremely user-friendly and enables searches to be conducted with ease and speed. The OPAC allows search by author, title, subject, keywords, and Boolean search. It also gives the availability status of resources, indicating whether a particular resource is available or on loan.

All bonafide students of RRIMT, teaching, non-teaching and other members of the staff of the college are entitled to become members of the library. To become a member of library, bonafide students should fill out a form available with the Library Office. The registered members are issued Library Card corresponding to their entitlement.

Students are required to keep their Identity Cards with them for inspection whenever they visit the library. Library staff is authorized to request the students to show the same at any time. Serious actions are taken against unauthorized entrants. The Library members have following entitlements:

The books from Text Books Section can be borrowed for 10 days only. An overdue fine of Rs. 5/- per day will be charged if the books are kept above overdue period.

Clearance Certificate:

  • Library books are the property of the library. Before taking the final Examination or termination connection with the college, it is the responsibility of each and every member to return all library books, to settle all the library dues if any.
  • Those students, who due to any reason, do not appear in their respective examination or are declared failed in the same are required to surrender their library membership so that the same not be misused. After surrendering their membership, such students get library clearance.
